The Summer 2021 Microbiology Lab Intern will work with cross functional teams to evaluate and provide documented evidence of the disinfection efficacy of current and proposed disinfectant solutions utilized in the routine cleaning and sanitization programs of the Round Lake Drug Delivery and Penicillin manufacturing facilities at extended hold times. The intern will make an impact by decreasing waste of formulated disinfectants which will decrease cost and increase efficiency.
Project: The Microbiology Lab is responsible for conducting environmental monitoring of all Manufacturing Cleanrooms, microbiological in process testing of raw materials, BET and sterility final product testing, and review of microbiological data trends. Baxter is comprised of two (2) microbiology labs and seventeen (17) analyst. The motivation behind this project is the need to generate data to support a hold time greater than 24-hours of all disinfectant agents used in the Round Lake Drug Delivery and Penicillin manufacturing facilities. Additionally, identifying and qualifying a viable replacement for Steris Vesphene®IIse.
Requirements:
- Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Science
GPA of 3.0 or above - Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and problem-solving skills
- Positive attitude, team-oriented, adaptive to change, and collaborative
- Must not be allergic to Penicillin or Cephalosporin Drugs
