Clinical Research Job Description
In this role, you will perform routine and complex microbiology testing in a hospital laboratory setting. You will be responsible for ensuring specimen acceptability, operating and troubleshooting lab equipment, preparing reagents, and reporting accurate results that contribute to quality patient care. This position requires strong technical decision-making skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective collaboration with the lab team.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate specimen acceptability according to established criteria.
- Perform technical testing procedures as per SOPs.
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
- Make independent technical decisions regarding testing and problem resolution.
- Prepare, test, and validate reagents and controls.
- Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
- Perform preventive maintenance and quality control checks.
- Maintain lab supplies and assist with specimen processing.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and the use of PPE.
Clinical Research Job – Educational Qualifications
Bachelorโs degree inย Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology (or equivalent per CLIA & State requirements).
Experience and Skills
- Florida State Medical Technologist/Technician (MT/MLT) license (required).
- Previous clinical lab experience preferred.
- ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Computer proficiency and familiarity with LIS preferred.
- Must pass a standardized color vision screen.
- Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as needed.
Work Schedule
- 2nd shift: MondayโFriday, 2:30 PMโ11:00 PM
- Rotating weekends
