The Role:
As a Food Scientist in our Denver, CO facility, you will work on the full product development process from concept to commercialization to develop gluten-free baked products. Reporting to the Manager, Research & Development, you will use knowledge of baking science to run projects including brand new innovations, renovations, and cost savings.
You Will:
- Develop new gluten free bakery and snack products beginning at the concept phase through successful commercialization
- Determine ingredient functionality through analytical and bench-top evaluation
Organize and conduct plant trials and new product startups - Collect, analyze and present data to support decision-making and set specifications
Maintain accurate and complete records - Learn and use laboratory equipment for ingredient analysis and production of prototypes
Perform experiments, sensory evaluations, shelf life studies and document results for review - Learn and use company systems and processes for project execution
Organize and lead meetings, product cuttings, plant trials, and ingredient testing - Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area; including the cleaning of equipment, utensils and work surfaces
- Work with Conagra team members to achieve our goals
You Have:
- B.S. in Baking Science or related field with 3 or more years of relevant work experience
Experience in gluten free baking and bakery manufacturing is highly desirable
Passion for food creation and manufacturing - Be a technical leader on projects to positively contribute to our goals
Pro-active self-starter, willing to accept responsibility for business tasks - Demonstrated ability as a team player and individual contributor
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
Requires knowledge in food product design, formulation, ingredient functionality and interaction, process design, product scale-up, plant testing and commercialization - May occasionally require early, late or weekend work
Physical Requirements:
- Work in and around cramped/confined spaces
- Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders
- Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodically extended workdays to include: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions
- Use of tools, equipment, and machinery
- Driving a company or rental vehicle for up to 6 hours as needed
- May travel up to 30% of the time. Must be able to travel independently and as a responsible company representative

Compensation:
Annual Salary: $68,000.00 – $85,000.00
