Job Description
Dewberry is currently seeking an Environmental Science Intern to join the Fairfax, VA office for Summer 2027. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to spend the summer working with a team of talented environmental professionals and apply their academic knowledge in the environmental field. A housing stipend may be provided for eligible candidates.
Summer Intern Program
During the Dewberry Internship summer program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would engage with as full-time employees.
Interns will participate in a series of workshops and events, including:
- Networking opportunities to meet other interns, staff, and senior leaders across the business.
- Learning about Dewberry’s services, projects, and clients.
- Professional development workshops, including a career planning workshop and a DiSC assessment to learn more about themselves and how to work effectively with others.
- Summer-long group project where interns work alongside firm leaders to address issues that will impact future strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist professionals with work associated with aspects of natural resource inventory, analysis, wetland delineation, permitting, and mitigation.
Eligibility Criteria for Dewberry Internship
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Salary Range: $18.75/hour – $29.75/hour. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
