Fellowship Program- The Harvard University Center for the Environment (HUCE) invites applications for the 2026 Environmental Fellows Program (Postdoctoral Fellowship), designed for emerging scholars passionate about tackling complex environmental challenges. Fellows work with Harvard faculty across disciplines to pursue independent research, foster cross-department collaboration, and contribute to innovative environmental solutions.
About the Program
The Environmental Fellows Program supports exceptional postdoctoral researchers by providing the opportunity to use and expand Harvard’s world-class resources. Each fellow works for two years with a Harvard faculty host in any school or department, creating a vibrant community of environmental scholars.

Fellowship Program- Award Details
- Annual Salary: $90,000
- Health Insurance: Employee eligibility included
- Relocation Reimbursement: Up to $2,500
- Annual Professional Allowance: $2,500 for travel, conferences, or research expenses
- Approximately five fellowships will be awarded for the 2026 cohort
Fellowship Program- Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must hold a PhD or terminal degree awarded between May 2022 and August 2026
- Open to candidates from any discipline—science, economics, law, design, humanities, policy, public health, and more
- Interdisciplinary research encouraged but not required
- Applicants must secure a Harvard faculty host who can mentor and provide office space
Selection Criteria
Fellows are chosen based on:
- Proven academic excellence and professional success
- Strength and originality of the proposed project
- Relevance of research to environmental issues
- Potential for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Faculty host’s commitment and mentorship capacity
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for video interviews with the selection committee.
Postdoctoral Fellowship- Application Requirements
