The Position
We are seeking an intern to join the NABM department and support our pooled screening tasks in immortalized cell lines as well as in terminally differentiated, non-dividing cells. You will work closely with a postdoctoral researcher for a duration of 9โ12 months.
The Opportunity
You will join the Nucleic Acid-based Medicine department within the Therapeutic Modalities function in pRED. Our work integrates precise DNA delivery methods, functional screening, and iterative molecule optimization to identify effective genetic constructs. The overarching goal is to develop next-generation genomic medicines for the treatment of devastating disorders.
The internship will provide the opportunity to:
- Gain practical experience in high-throughput functional genomics and pool screens
- Learn best practices for pooled screen design, assay development, and data analysis
- Broaden exposure to gene therapies and drug development
- Work closely within multidisciplinary research teams
Education and Experience
You are a student (or you graduated within 12 months prior to the start date) preferably in the subject of Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, or similar, and have an interest in drug discovery and gene therapy. The internship offers the possibility for writing a Master/Diploma thesis.
The following skills are desired for the internship:
- Proficiency in mammalian cell culture
- Familiarity with the principles and workflows of pooled library screens
- Hands-on experience with RNA and DNA isolation
- Hands-on experience with molecular biology methods (PCR, cloning, western blot)
- Exposure to NGS workflows and basic understanding of sequencing data interpretation
- Optional but beneficial: experience with FISH, fluorescence microscopy, and digital PCR
- Reliable and accurate working style
- Self-sufficient, problem-solving work habits
- A proactive and collaborative personality
- Proficiency in English
