Specific Responsibilities: 
A summer research internship is available in the Discovery Sciences and Technologies Department in the Foster City campus of Gilead Sciences. The candidate should be enrolled in an Undergraduate Program with Major in Life Sciences (Bachelor or equivalent) and have some prior experience in Cell Biology or Molecular Biology work.
Essential Functions: 
Under general supervision:
- Participate in the development and management of biochemical and/or cell-based high throughput assays supporting Gilead’s drug discovery programs using robotics and automation technology in a Biosafety level 2 laboratory.
- Plans details of experiments and maintains a lab notebook. Operates scientific equipment (e.g. microplate readers and/or automated liquid handlers) and utilize software tools to analyze and interpret data
- Contributes in group meetings and discussions, and at the conclusion of the internship presents results to the Discovery Sciences and Technologies team
Required Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.8
- Undergraduate (or graduate student, if applicable) in the Biological Sciences
- Must be enrolled in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship
- Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between June and September
- Must be able to work at our Foster City site for the duration of the internship
- Must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination* prior to start of internship
