Job Title: Senior Scientist – Molecular Biology
Location: Palo Alto, California, US, 94304
Eligibility Criteria:
- Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Synthetic Biology, Biotechnology or similar, preferably with 1-3 years of experience in industry or relevant academic experience
- Alternatively, we will consider candidates with B.S. or Master’s degrees with 8 plus years of experience in industry
- Experience with filamentous fungi, protein expression, and high-throughput screening is a plus
- Demonstrated experience with genetic engineering of microorganisms is required
- Experience in flow cytometry, “omics” techniques, microscopy, and microfluidics is a plus
Responsibilties:
The work will involve one or more aspects of the following:
- Engineering fungal strains for maximal protein production
- Carrying out fundamental research to understand and improve on all aspects of fungal growth, fermentation, genetic engineering, stress tolerance, and protein production to create optimized cell factories
- Identifying and implementing new and emerging developments and techniques in the field.
- Keeping up-to-date with relevant scientific and intellectual literature
- Preparing and presenting technical reports, data summaries, protocols, and other technical and regulatory documentation
- Participating in developing the intellectual property strategy and drafting patent applications in collaboration with peers and the legal team
- At IFF in Palo Alto, we believe that the difference is made in the lab; in this position >50% of the time is expected to be spent on lab work.
