Educational Requirements for Molecular Technologist Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or life sciences
  • 1+ years of molecular lab experience in a CAP/CLIA regulated setting
  • Required state or county licensure/certification
  • Preferred:
    • MB-ASCP certification
    • QSR-compliant lab experience
    • Familiarity with DNA manipulation, enzymatic reactions, sequencing chemistry
    • Experience with LIMS and high-throughput instruments

Key Responsibilities for Molecular Technologist Role:

  • Prepare NGS libraries following SOPs
  • Extract and isolate nucleic acids
  • Perform hybridization capture and genetic sequencing methods
  • Operate automated liquid handling systems
  • Run quantification, sizing, and NGS instruments
  • Execute patient and client sample testing workflows
  • Maintain turnaround time (TAT) efficiency and quality
  • Use LIMS for sample tracking
  • Document processes adhering to Good Documentation Practices
  • Conduct equipment maintenance (daily/weekly/monthly)
  • Support continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Follow lab safety protocols and maintain cleanliness
  • Collaborate on SOP revisions and updates
  • Assist with NCRs, CAPAs, and compliance documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills Required for Molecular Technologist Role:

  • Strong molecular biology and sequencing knowledge
