Educational Requirements for Molecular Technologist Role:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or life sciences
- 1+ years of molecular lab experience in a CAP/CLIA regulated setting
- Required state or county licensure/certification
- Preferred:
- MB-ASCP certification
- QSR-compliant lab experience
- Familiarity with DNA manipulation, enzymatic reactions, sequencing chemistry
- Experience with LIMS and high-throughput instruments
Key Responsibilities for Molecular Technologist Role:
- Prepare NGS libraries following SOPs
- Extract and isolate nucleic acids
- Perform hybridization capture and genetic sequencing methods
- Operate automated liquid handling systems
- Run quantification, sizing, and NGS instruments
- Execute patient and client sample testing workflows
- Maintain turnaround time (TAT) efficiency and quality
- Use LIMS for sample tracking
- Document processes adhering to Good Documentation Practices
- Conduct equipment maintenance (daily/weekly/monthly)
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Follow lab safety protocols and maintain cleanliness
- Collaborate on SOP revisions and updates
- Assist with NCRs, CAPAs, and compliance documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills Required for Molecular Technologist Role:
- Strong molecular biology and sequencing knowledge
- Proficiency with laboratory instruments and high-throughput systems
- Experience with LIMS and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
