- Shift: Second Shift (1:00 PM – 9:30 PM). Must train on first shift for first 60 days.
General Summary
Under general supervision, the QC Technician I is responsible for monitoring and adjusting production processes to ensure products meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor production processes; test and interpret raw materials and in-process materials to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Perform required testing on final products for product approval and conduct in-process lab tests.
- Ensure proper aseptic sampling methods for microbiological samples.
- Assist in handling and submitting microbial samples and creating external lab orders.
- Calibrate laboratory instruments and maintain equipment according to GMP/GLP requirements.
- Organize and maintain all required documentation and records.
- Navigate DocBox and become proficient in SAP for data entry and product release.
- Perform tasks assigned by QC Lab Manager (e.g., sample preparation).
- Maintain clean glassware supply for testing.
- Monitor laboratory inventory and notify designated personnel for restocking.
- GMP experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities for Life Science Jobs at Oterra
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field or at least 6 months to 2 years of laboratory experience
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to interpret SOPs, equipment manuals, blend formulas
- Strong communication skills for interacting with colleagues
- Ability to interpret test results and follow SOPs for corrective actions
- Proficiency with lab equipment, instruments, and office equipment
- Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database programs
- Able to perform calculations (rate, ratio, percentages, metric volumes)
Working Conditions
- Favorable work environment with occasional exposure to cold temperatures
- PPE required: lab coat, hair/beard net, safety glasses, gloves; dust mask when handling powdered media
- Weekend work may be required
