AbbVie Medical Trainee Job Description
AbbVie is looking for a motivated and curious Medical Trainee and Life Sciences trainee to join its Immunology Medical Affairs team in Portugal. This role is part of FirstStep@AbbVie, an Early Career Program designed to provide recent graduates with a structured learning experience and practical exposure to the pharmaceutical industry. The Medical Trainee will learn about the role of Medical Affairs within a leading biopharmaceutical company, gaining exposure to scientific, medical, and cross-functional activities that support AbbVie’s Immunology portfolio.
Life Sciences Trainee – Key Responsibilities
- Gain exposure to the day-to-day activities of a Medical Affairs team.
- Support the preparation and review of scientific and medical materials under appropriate guidance.
- Participate in literature reviews and learn how scientific evidence is evaluated and applied in practice.
- Contribute to the development of educational materials and internal scientific presentations.
- Gain experience in the planning and execution of scientific meetings, advisory boards, and congress-related activities.
- Learn how medical information requests are managed and supported.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Pharmacovigilance, and Commercial functions to better understand the pharmaceutical environment.
- Develop knowledge of Immunology and the broader healthcare landscape.
- Learn how scientific and medical activities are conducted in compliance with company policies, local regulations, and industry standards.
Eligibility Criteria Required For Life Sciences Trainee
- University degree in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Strong interest in Medical Affairs, science, and the pharmaceutical industry.
- Good understanding of scientific literature and evidence-based medicine.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Curiosity, learning agility, and willingness to collaborate in a cross-functional environment.
- Fluent in Portuguese and English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
