In this full-time position, you will work on-site at Medtronic’s Brooklyn Park manufacturing site, ensuring that all cardiac surgery medical devices are contamination-free and meet the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities for Microbiologist Jobs

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Implement policies ensuring compliance for controlled environments per ISO 14644 standards.

  • Follow strict protocols for cleaning, storing, and delivering materials and instruments.

  • Interpret and evaluate analyses for accuracy and precision; recommend corrective actions where necessary.

  • Review microbiology lab tests and ensure appropriate testing frequencies for product families.

  • Support the internal microbiology lab in analyzing biological, chemical, and microbiological samples.

  • Develop, validate, and implement contamination control and cleanroom methods.

  • Apply or improve existing analytical techniques and methods for efficiency and accuracy.

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative tests using both standard and automated instrumentation.

  • Participate in method transfer from R&D projects to production.

  • Prepare for internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with all internal procedures.

  • Execute corrective and preventive actions for nonconformances and audit findings.

  • Perform sterilization and disinfection of instruments, products, and supplies.

  • Support change control initiatives to align with industry best practices.

Must-Have: Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this role, ensure your applicant profile includes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or technical field with 2+ years of experience in microbiology, sterilization, or biocompatibility
    OR

  • Advanced degree in a science or technical field with 0+ years of relevant experience.

Nice to Have for Microbiologist Jobs

  • Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, or a related technical discipline.

  • CISS certification, AAMI WG, or other relevant training certifications.

  • Proficiency in data trending software (e.g., Minitab, Excel) and statistical analysis.

  • On-site employment required, with flexibility for 1 remote day per week.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work collaboratively in teams, and manage individual projects.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
