Microbiology Job Description
Microbiology job professionals have an exciting opportunity to join the Livingston Microbiology team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. As a QC Microbiology Analyst, you will help establish high standards for contamination control through testing, training, and implementation of best practices within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
The role supports the Life Science business by ensuring product quality through microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, and quality control activities. Working as part of a small Quality Control team, you will contribute to maintaining compliance and product quality standards within a GxP-regulated manufacturing facility.
Qualifications
Microbiology job applicants should possess the following qualifications and skills:
Essential
- BSc degree or above in Microbiology or a Life Science discipline.
- Equivalent further education or cGxP work experience will also be considered.
- Excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
Microbiology job responsibilities include supporting contamination control and maintaining microbiological quality standards across the facility.
- Perform lot release testing within a dedicated cleanroom test suite, including Bioburden and Total Viable Count testing.
- Conduct bioburden and quality analysis of facility water systems.
- Perform acceptance testing of raw materials, including Growth Promotion and Identification testing.
- Carry out environmental monitoring activities and microbial identification.
- Analyze environmental monitoring trends and data.
- Participate in investigations of environmental monitoring excursions and out-of-specification (OOS) results.
- Support site Quality Management Systems, including deviation investigations, change control, and process improvement activities.
- Deliver practical training on gowning, hygiene, contamination control, and cleanroom awareness across the facility.
- Ensure compliance with established test specifications and quality procedures.
- Collaborate with Quality Control team members to maintain product quality standards.
