Microbiology Lab Technician Job Description
The Lab Technician I will perform a variety of standardized microbiological tests on raw materials, environmental samples, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with food safety and quality requirements. Microbiology Lab Technician Responsibilities
- Perform standardized microbiological testing using approved methods and laboratory procedures, a key aspect of many biology jobs.
- Prepare, label, and process samples for microbiological analysis.
- Prepare media, reagents, and laboratory supplies according to established procedures.
- Operate laboratory equipment such as incubators, balances, pipettes, autoclaves, colony counters, and other testing instruments.

- Assist with environmental monitoring programs by processing and analyzing environmental swab samples.
- Monitor incubation schedules and ensure timely completion of testing activities.

Eligibility Criteria Required For Microbiology Lab Technician
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s degree or coursework in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, or related field preferred.
- Previous laboratory experience is preferred but not required.
- Basic understanding of microbiology principles and laboratory techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow written procedures and work with minimal supervision after training.
