Microbiology Technician Madison WI Job Description
The Microbiology Technician will be responsible for preparing samples for processing and maintaining documentation to facilitate testing procedures. In this role, the work involves laboratory activities including sample preparation, analysis, and adherence to safety policies.
Eligibility Criteria for Microbiology Technician
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience and 1+ year relevant work, or Bachelor’s Degree.
- Basic knowledge of science to perform testing procedures accurately.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures and policies.
- Planning skills to maintain supplies of analysis materials.

Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities for Microbiology Technician include:
- Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
- Write identification onto plates for tracking client and sample numbers.
- Pipette sample solutions into tubes or plates according to analysis protocols.
- Pour agar into plates or tubes to initiate the growth process.
- Collect plates and place them in the incubator for specified time and temperature.
- Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as required.
- Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes.
