Educational Requirements for the Quality Specialist:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Food Science/Technology, or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety, HACCP, FSMA, GMP, and GFSI standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities of Quality Specialist Role:
- Oversee production decisions related to quality and food safety.
- Conduct GMP audits, manage SAP material setups, and ensure data accuracy.
- Train and coach employees on quality standards and continuous improvement processes.
- Support HACCP plan reviews, audits, and certification processes (FDA, FSSC, Kosher, Organic).
- Drive First Time Right (FTR%) improvements and reduce product complaints.
- Lead or participate in root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with FSSC 22000, maintain hygiene standards, and uphold food safety protocols.
- Develop and implement SOPs, quality forms, and digital documentation systems.
- Support new product/process validations and quality verification activities.
- Collaborate with suppliers on quality defect programs and ensure audit readiness.
Skills Required for the Quality Specialist:
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and data interpretation skills.
- Knowledge of quality management and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Effective problem-solving and coaching capabilities.
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with GMP regulations, allergen handling, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficient in SAP and MS Office applications.
