The Position: Roche Diagnostics acquired Stratos Genomics in 2020 for its unique chemistry, Sequencing by Expansion (SBX™), that supports high signal-to-noise nanopore sequencing. The Protein Engineering group at Roche Diagnostics Seattle is focused on innovative approaches to improve the performance of proteins in SBX, especially the Xpandomer synthase. We are looking for a Research Associate to support the effort to produce and improve proteins involved in SBX.
The Opportunity:
- Support the effort to produce and improve proteins involved in SBX.
- Contribute to the definition and timely achievement of project goals.
- Perform data analysis and protocol development.
- Communicate effectively with manager on project status and findings.
Who You Are:
- B.S. degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Protein Science, or similar.
- Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience in the biotech industry or research.
- Comfortable with basic laboratory techniques and standard molecular biology techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with E. coli protein expression and purification.
- Experience with protein mutagenesis, library methods, and variant screening.

Salary and Benefits: The expected salary range for this position in Washington State is $64,100-119,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience. The position qualifies for benefits outlined on the Roche website.
