About The Institution

Stanford Bioengineering is a dynamic and rapidly expanding department within the Schools of Engineering and Medicine. The Fischbach Lab conducts cutting-edge research on the human gut microbiome, with a particular emphasis on genetically modifying human-associated bacteria to study their immune effects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, conduct, and analyze laboratory experiments independently.
  • Apply molecular biology techniques, strain isolation methods, and in vivo mouse procedures.
  • Maintain detailed records of research data and contribute to publications.
  • Assist with training new staff or students in laboratory techniques.
  • Support general laboratory operations, including inventory and safety compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a related scientific field required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of scientific principles and ability to apply theoretical knowledge.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures and ability to maintain accurate experimental records.

Working Conditions:

  • Work may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials, and environments involving animals.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, perform repetitive motion, and stand for extended periods.
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment is required.

Compensation:

The expected pay range for this position is $32.58 โ€“ $38.48 per hour, with eligibility for Stanford Universityโ€™s comprehensive benefits package.
