About The Institution
Stanford Bioengineering is a dynamic and rapidly expanding department within the Schools of Engineering and Medicine. The Fischbach Lab conducts cutting-edge research on the human gut microbiome, with a particular emphasis on genetically modifying human-associated bacteria to study their immune effects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, conduct, and analyze laboratory experiments independently.
- Apply molecular biology techniques, strain isolation methods, and in vivo mouse procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of research data and contribute to publications.
- Assist with training new staff or students in laboratory techniques.
- Support general laboratory operations, including inventory and safety compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree in a related scientific field required.
- Demonstrated understanding of scientific principles and ability to apply theoretical knowledge.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and ability to maintain accurate experimental records.
Working Conditions:
- Work may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials, and environments involving animals.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, perform repetitive motion, and stand for extended periods.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment is required.
Compensation:
The expected pay range for this position is $32.58 โ $38.48 per hour, with eligibility for Stanford Universityโs comprehensive benefits package.
