Educational Requirements for the Microbiologist Role:

  • Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related Life Science discipline.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP/GLP standards preferred.

Key Responsibilities of the Microbiologist Role:

  • Conduct GMP testing for raw materials, in-process, and finished products.
  • Perform sterility and endotoxin testing for release, stability, and validation.
  • Maintain sterility and endotoxin testing areas in a state of cGMP compliance.
  • Conduct growth promotion testing for microbial culture media qualification.
  • Perform microbial identification for product and environmental testing.
  • Record and maintain GMP data accurately.
  • Author and execute method validation/suitability protocols and summary reports.
  • Handle deviation reports and microbiological assessment reports.
  • Coordinate sample receipt and processing for microbiology testing.
  • Participate in internal and external audits with agencies and contract manufacturers.
  • Support equipment maintenance, calibration, and validation.
  • Perform assay failure and complaint investigations.

Skills Required for the Microbiologist Role:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical microbiology and microbiological testing (sterility, endotoxin, bioburden, etc.).
  • Proficiency in method validation and environmental monitoring techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP and GLP standards.
  • Good computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and documentation systems).
