Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline
- 3–4 years of relevant experience required
Key Responsibilities of QC Role at Genentech:
- Conduct stability testing, compendial method testing, and Bulk Drug Substance testing
- Perform reagent preparation and manage samples for biopharmaceutical products
- Support equipment maintenance and laboratory operational duties
- Apply basic chromatography skills (Liquid/Gas Chromatography, HPLC) and bioassays (Potency, ELISA)
- Follow aseptic techniques for cell handling and laboratory safety procedures
- Participate in inspections/audits and unplanned event reporting
- Support change control, SOP redlining, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Use laboratory software including Empower, GSMP, LIMS, and productivity tools
- Contribute to team projects, including providing leadership where applicable
Skills Required for the QC Role:
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced environments
- Experience with chromatography and bioassay techniques
- Knowledge of stability testing and Tech Transfer activities
- Familiarity with SOP revisions, change control, and QC documentation
- Proficiency with Empower, GSMP, LIMS, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and safely handle hazardous chemicals
