Agriculture Internship- Role:
The Agriculture Internship offers a unique opportunity to learn from experienced agronomists and participate in field-based research. Beginning in May 2026, interns will work at McCain’s Othello, WA field location, exploring the entire potato production journey — from crop development and pest management to sustainability initiatives. This role is perfect for students passionate about plant science, agronomy, and agri-sustainability, eager to apply classroom knowledge to real agricultural challenges.
Biology Internships- Key Responsibilities
As an Agriculture Intern at McCain Foods, you will:
- Support local agronomy teams by researching and analyzing crop data to improve production efficiency.
- Participate in field monitoring, pest management, and crop performance assessments.
- Work alongside agronomists to design and collect data for sustainability and production improvement projects.
- Learn the fundamentals of fumigation, integrated pest management (IPM), and regenerative agriculture.
- Collaborate with growers to understand on-field practices and farm management challenges.
- Gain exposure to McCain’s manufacturing operations and complete in-house agricultural training modules.
- Contribute to research and extension activities promoting innovative and eco-friendly growing techniques.
Research Internships- Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Enrollment as a college junior or senior majoring in Agricultural Science, Plant Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Interest or experience in farm operations or vegetable production (preferred, not required).
- Strong analytical, data management, and Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- A valid driver’s license and ability to travel for fieldwork.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
