BioLegend, part of Revvity, seeks a Biochemist I to join its recombinant protein manufacturing team in San Diego. The Biochemist Job role focuses on bacterial expression systems to produce high-quality recombinant proteins for global life science research.
Job Details
As a Biochemist I, you will carry out bacterial cell culture, protein expression, purification, and quality support activities. Responsibilities include preparing buffers, performing DNA isolation, executing affinity chromatography, SDS-PAGE monitoring, endotoxin removal, and maintaining ISO13485:2016 documentation. You will also support product transfer, raw material inventory, tissue and insect culture requests, and bottling of protein products.

Educational Requirements for Biochemist Job Role:
- BS in Life Sciences or related field
- 6โ12 months experience in biotech or protein manufacturing preferred
Key Responsibilities for Biochemist Job Role:
- DNA isolation, buffer & reagent preparation
- Bacterial transformation, culture, and harvest
- Recombinant protein expression & purification (affinity chromatography)
- SDS-PAGE analysis, protein bulk processing & endotoxin removal
- Support inventory, product transfer & QC coordination
- Maintain batch records under ISO13485:2016
- General lab maintenance and support for protein bottling
Skills Required for Biochemist Job Role:
- Experience in bacterial culture & DNA isolation
- Protein purification & formulation experience
- Knowledge of SDS-PAGE & chromatography
- Good communication & documentation skills
- Lab team collaboration & attention to detail
