Job Responsibilities
- Perform routine cytogenetic procedures: tissue culture, harvesting, slide prep, banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation
- Conduct FISH processing, probing, and scoping
- Determine specimen acceptability per established criteria
- Perform routine and complex procedures per SOPs
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation
- Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Report timely and accurate test results
- Perform and document quality control and preventive maintenance
- Replenish supplies and assist with specimen processing
- Maintain a safe working environment and use required PPE
Requirements
- Bachelorโs degree in Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or equivalent (per CLIA/State regulations)
- No prior clinical lab experience required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Computer proficiency; LIS familiarity a plus
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to pass a color vision screening
- Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as needed
