Salary Range for the Biology Jobs at GSK:
For candidates based in Cambridge, MA; Waltham, MA; Rockville, MD; or San Francisco, CA:
$73,838 – $123,063 annually, based on experience, skills, education, and location.

Educational Requirements for the Associate Scientist Role:
Basic Requirements:
- Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field
- MS, or BS with 1+ years of experience
- 2+ years of experience in molecular biology, genomics, transcriptomics, and/or assay development
- 2+ years of experience in molecular biology methods, such as Nucleic acid extraction, Cloning, PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, Reverse transcription, RNA in vitro transcription, NGS library preparation

2+ years of experience with next-generation sequencing technologies (Illumina, PacBio, Oxford Nanopore)
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in cell biology or virology
- Experience developing custom NGS workflows
- Bioinformatics proficiency
- Familiarity with automated liquid-handling systems
- Strong written, oral, and presentation skills
- Detail-oriented, problem-solving ability
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and timelines
Key Responsibilities of the Associate Scientist Role:
- Implement and execute NGS protocols for RNA and DNA characterization
- Perform experiments testing sequence identity and gene expression using bulk, single-cell, or spatial sequencing
- Record, interpret, and present experimental results
- Execute new methods and integrate new technologies with supervision
- Collaborate with scientists across the organization on NGS initiatives
- Perform complex data management tasks with guidance
- Contribute to scientific investigations, publications, and patent filings
Skills Required for the Associate Scientist Role:
- Strong molecular biology and genomics expertise
- Experience with sequencing platforms (short + long read)
- Ability to handle complex experiments and data
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and manage uncertainties
- Experience with bioinformatics and/or high-throughput automation is a plus
