About the Role:

The Research Specialist – Mouse Genetics will play a critical role within the Mouse Genetics Core Facility, providing technical and analytical expertise across a range of experimental areas. This position involves hands-on benchwork, computational data analysis, bioresource inventory management, and method optimization.

The Specialist will also train junior team members, guide external users, and contribute to implementing emerging technologies and workflows that support MSK’s cancer research mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct experiments in embryology, reproductive biology, microscopy, image analysis, and bioinformatics.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), research documentation, and equipment schedules.
  • Perform data analysis using specialized software and compile comprehensive project reports.
  • Manage bioresource inventory using platforms like FileMaker, Smartsheet, and Airtable.
  • Monitor project quality and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Train laboratory staff and coordinate technical instruction for non-core users.
  • Assist in cost tracking and service billing for facility operations.
  • Stay updated with scientific advancements and contribute to workflow improvements.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in embryology, reproductive biology, microscopic imaging, molecular biology, or bioinformatics.
  • Competence in computational data analysis and scientific documentation.
  • Familiarity with database management tools (FileMaker, Smartsheet, Airtable).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to multi-year contribution due to the specialized nature of the work.
