Educational Requirements for the Biotechnology Intern:
- Undergraduate student in 3rd or 4th year
- Pursuing a degree in a scientific discipline (biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, etc.)
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student or have graduated within the last 12 months
- Ability to work 40 hours per week throughout the internship
- Must be able to work at the designated BioMarin site
Key Responsibilities of the Biologics Intern:
- Work with the Biologics team to support protein purification development
- Optimize strategies to increase therapeutic protein purification throughput
- Assist with purification process characterization
- Collaborate with cross-functional scientific teams within RED
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure proper documentation
- Learn and utilize new scientific techniques relevant to biologics development
Skills Required for the Biotechnology Intern Role:
Required Skills:
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Proactive, collaborative attitude
- Willingness to learn new techniques
- Basic exposure to protein purification tools and equipment
Desired Skills:
- Experience with SDS-PAGE
