BS Biomedical Science Job Overview:
As a Microbiology Technician, you will perform specimen processing and laboratory testing, including moderate and high-complexity tests, in compliance with department policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of diagnostic information for patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform specimen processing and laboratory testing, including high-complexity procedures.
- Ensure all testing is completed on time and in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment according to the scheduled maintenance plan.
- Apply problem-solving skills to ensure test results are accurate and maintain equipment reliability.
- Maintain quality control and assurance standards for laboratory testing.
- Work under the oversight of a medical technologist and direction of a supervisor/manager (as required by state regulations).
BS Biomedical Science Job – Educational Qualifications:
Associateโs degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, or Biology.
Experience and Skills
- National Certification as a Medical Technician (required).
- A state license is required in the following states: CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, and WV.
- Knowledge of microbiology and infectious disease processes.
- General knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to prioritize, organize tasks, and work efficiently.
