Job Description

The Technician – QC – API role is essential for conducting and ensuring the quality of laboratory samples in a Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) environment. The technician will be responsible for testing samples for in-process support, environmental monitoring, and compressed air/nitrogen. This position is critical for maintaining high standards of quality and safety in the manufacturing process of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Sample Analysis and Reporting: Accurately and safely perform analytical test methods. Review and enter data, ensuring it conforms to standards and GMP requirements. Conduct second-person verification (SPV) of data and participate in Environmental Monitoring.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement, following Lilly’s Continuous Improvement (CCI/Lean) standards.
  • Lab Operations: Train and mentor other lab personnel, execute notifications to management, perform routine equipment qualifications and maintenance, and assist in laboratory investigations.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), investigate non-conformance issues, and maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • Basic Requirements: An Associate’s degree in Biotechnology with dedicated laboratory training and experience.
  • Additional Preferences:
    • Ability to work in a highly regulated lab environment while wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Understanding of cGMPs and environmental monitoring.
    • Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
    • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office.
    • Strong mathematical and documentation skills.
    • Previous Continuous Improvement or Operational Excellence experience.
  • Physical Requirements: The role may require repetitive motion, prolonged periods of standing, and the ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Work Schedule: The position may require supporting 24-hour operations, which involve shifts that cover days, nights, and weekends. Overtime may be necessary.
