Educational Requirements:
- High School Graduate or technical degree
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in the life sciences industry
- Phlebotomy certification (if required by state law)
- Intramuscular dose preparation/administration certification (if applicable)
Key Responsibilities of the Clinical Research Assistant Role:
- Assist clinical trials per study protocol, GCP, ICH, and SOPs
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and other sample collection
- Conduct clinical assessments like vital signs, ECG, and phlebotomy
- Process, package, and ship lab specimens following protocol and IATA rules
- Maintain inventory of lab/study supplies
- Enter data into sponsor/vendor systems and resolve basic queries
- Support patient recruitment, prescreening, and consent process
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and sponsor information
- Identify and escalate patient safety concerns
- Clean, organize, and disinfect clinical and lab areas
- Prepare source documents, file medical records, and manage study paperwork
- Handle front office tasks: phones, scheduling, reminders, tracking systems
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills Required for the Clinical Research Assistant Role:
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and follow written guidelines
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office
- Experience with fax, copier, multi-line phone systems
- Flexibility and adaptability to fast-changing schedules
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods and perform light lifting (up to 30 lbs)
