Job Description
The Food Safety Specialist job ensures compliance with food safety, GMPs, and sanitation standards while maintaining high-quality standards throughout production. Candidates with a background in Food Science will conduct audits, perform environmental and microbiological testing, prepare reports, and provide technical guidance to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with food safety, GMPs, and sanitation standards; address noncompliance.
- Perform environmental and microbiological testing of equipment, facilities, and materials.
- Prepare reports and recommend corrective actions for audit and monitoring deficiencies.
- Collect and test raw materials and finished products to verify compliance with specifications.
- Coordinate the prompt and accurate shipment of samples to external laboratories.
- Review and maintain precise production documentation and records.
- Report noncompliance issues such as out-of-specification products or foreign materials.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot food safety and quality issues.
- Stay informed on regulations, customer requirements, and technological advancements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, training sessions, and company meetings.
- Maintain laboratory facilities, equipment, and supplies in accordance with good laboratory practices.
- Oversee instrument calibration, logs, and retention samples as required.
- Coordinate and document shelf-life testing, including sensory and microbial evaluations.
Educational Qualification
Bachelorโs degree in Food Science or a related scientific field.
Experience and Skills
- 1โ2 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment. Experience in quality assurance and food safety strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of HACCP, SQF, PCQI, and other food safety principles.
