Position Overview
This internship for life science students will start as early as June 2026 and will run up to 4 months. Consideration will be made for shorter assignments dependent on availability, skills, and interest. A minimum of 40 hours per week and availability of 5 days is required. Normal hours of work will be between 8:00 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Projects must be managed to meet agreed-upon objectives and deadlines. Schedule accommodations will be made for the right candidate. This is a paid internship with a scaled hourly rate, dependent on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with analytical development and testing, including sample preparation, data acquisition & analysis, and written reporting.
- Conduct an independent research project in an area of agreed-upon mutual interest – proposal, execution, and written and oral presentation at the conclusion of the internship.
- Work directly with internal analytical teams, providing hands-on assistance and project guidance.
- Collaborate with other analytical scientists and technologists to deliver ad hoc project results in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently, learn new tasks, solve problems, and show strong self-motivation and initiative.
- Present the final report on work completed during the intern period.
- Assist in gathering relevant data from various sources.
- Manage his/her tasks and assignments efficiently to meet deadlines.
Required Qualifications for Food Science Internship
- Enrollment as an undergraduate college Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or graduate student in a relevant program for the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Enrollment as a Food Science major for the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Grade point average overall minimum of 3.0/4.0 and 3.25 within the major.
- Communication skills, teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a structured and organized manner.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
