About the Insmed Genetic Internship
The Summer Internship Program at Insmed is designed to provide students with a chance to make a real impact in the pharmaceutical industry. This Insmed internship allows interns to gain hands-on experience, contribute to meaningful team projects, and learn directly from skilled professionals invested in their growth. The 2027 Summer Intern program is a full-time (40 hours per week), 12-week, paid internship that may present opportunities for rotational assignments within the function.
What You’ll Do?
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to help advance Insmed’s gene editing research pipeline. You’ll also:
- Participate in gene editing experiments (e.g., CRISPR-based knockouts or knock-ins) under mentor supervision
- Perform molecular biology workflows and assays to validate editing outcomes (e.g., cloning, Western blot, PCR, flow cytometry)
- Maintain detailed and accurate lab notebooks and experimental records
- Analyze and interpret experimental results, contribute to data presentations and team meetings
- Collaborate with scientists across discovery and bioinformatics teams
- Present a summary of internship findings at the end of the program
Eligibility Criteria Required For Genetic Internship
The ideal candidate is a current student pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Bioengineering, or a related field. The candidate should possess:
- Hands-on coursework or lab experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, cloning) and cell culture
- Familiarity with CRISPR/Cas9 or other gene editing platforms (preferred)
- Basic understanding of DNA repair mechanisms (NHEJ, HDR) and genome biology (preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret experimental data
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for scientific reporting
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary research environment
Where You’ll Work?
This role is based out of Insmed’s Bridgewater, New Jersey Research Development Lab and requires full-time, in-person presence to support hands-on collaboration, access specialized equipment, and operational needs.
Pay Range:
$20.00-35.00 Hourly
