Job Description
The Micro Lab Technician 1 prepares samples for analytical and microbiological testing of food products, ingredients, and environmental surfaces. Candidates with a Life Science background will apply approved microbiological techniques to ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of laboratory results. This role involves hands-on work in sample preparation, media maintenance, and quality control monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare samples for indicator organisms, pathogens, and chemical analyses.
- Apply aseptic techniques in daily laboratory workflows.
- Maintain the necessary media and reagents for microbiological testing.
- Inventory and report expendable supplies and materials.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, cleaning, and sanitizing of lab equipment.
- Conduct quality control monitoring, including monitoring incubator temperatures and inoculating control organisms.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure lab compliance with FSNS policies and customer requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
- Follow safety protocols to protect oneself and others in the lab environment.
Educational Qualification
Associate degree in Life Science
Experience and Skills
- Two years of lab experience preferred.
- Broad knowledge of laboratory concepts, practices, and procedures in a food testing environment.
- Ability to follow laboratory protocols and operate safely with hazardous materials.
- Ability to travel is preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
