Educational Requirements for the Lab Technician Role:
- Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent
- Preferred:

Bachelorโs or 2-year degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or related field

Key Responsibilities of the Lab Technician Role:
- As a Laboratory Technician, you have to conduct in-plant analysis and facility audits of production/quality records
- Manage sample collection for post-process measurements, packaging verification, product evaluation, incubation programs, and deviation assessments
- Collect samples for external laboratory analysis and customer positive release programs
- Conduct post-process examinations and report deviations to the Quality Manager
- Review Finished Goods and Raw Material analyses for compliance
- Collaborate with R&D to ensure product specifications remain updated
- Enter quality line check data and lab results into systems
- Compile, verify, and manage QA data and reports
- Conduct daily calibrations and perform required tests
- Participate actively in team meetings and cross-functional collaboration
- Uphold Simmonsโ operating systems including quality, LEAN, safety, and compliance
- Perform other duties to support business objectives
Skills Required for the Lab Technician Role:
- Working knowledge of laboratory procedures and HACCP principles
- Understanding of plant GMPs
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Gmail
- Ability to organize information and manage multiple tasks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Action-oriented with a proactive mindset
- High integrity, trustworthiness, and commitment to teamwork
- Thermal processing and double seam knowledge (required for Pet Food facility support)
- Quality Assurance or Quality Control experience (preferred)
- Industry experience in food processing can lead microbiology career here.
