The Role
Alfred Healthโs Microbiology Department has a temporary part-time position for a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist.ย Based at The Alfred hospital, your role will be to perform microbiology testing according to documented laboratory protocols within acceptable time frames.
The position is for 6 months (28th April 2025 to 26th October 2025) and your roster would involve shifts each Monday and Tuesday as well as one weekend shift per fortnight. Shifts would be rostered on a rotational basis, with participation in the day and evening shift rosters.
To be successful for this role, you will need to have experience performing diagnostic Microbiology tests, have excellent attention to detail, good communication skills, and ability to function well in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing diagnostic Microbiology tests
- Specimen set-up, culture reading, and interpretation
- Maintaining attention to detail and ensuring timely completion of tasks
- Communication and collaboration within the team
Skills/Qualifications Required
- BSc or BAppSc with a major in Microbiology
- Experience in diagnostic Microbiology testing
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to organize work effectively
