Life Sciences Research Technician Job – Key Responsibilities
As a Research Technician I, you will:
- Perform in-life technical procedures such as handling, dosing, binding, body weight measurements, and removals.
- Administer test substances via oral gavage and other methods.
- Conduct clinical observations, food consumption monitoring, and animal husbandry.
- Collect biological specimens and record data in compliance with GLP and SOPs.
- Handle and restrain laboratory animals while ensuring overall well-being.
- Prepare study environments, label collection tubes, and set up rooms.
- Maintain clean workspaces, laboratories, and animal enclosures.
- Assist with quality control checks, study documentation, and SOP retrieval.
- Potentially serve as lead technician on basic studies under supervision.
Life Sciences Research Technician Job – Qualifications
- Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Life Sciences, or related discipline preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 6 months in animal research and/or husbandry.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience accepted.
- Certification:
- ALAT certification preferred.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Ability to handle common lab species.
- Familiarity with animal care guidelines and GLP compliance.
- Basic understanding of study design and protocols.
- Proficiency in technical lab skills and data entry systems.
