Job Description

The QC Microbiologist I/II is responsible for performing microbial analysis on allergenic and client components, raw materials, intermediates, and finished products according to established procedures. This role supports product disposition decisions, participates in troubleshooting and validation studies, and ensures adherence to GMP and safety protocols.

Microbiologist I Duties:

  • Analyze raw materials, in-process products, stability, and final container products according to established procedures.
  • Record and review data per GxP standards.
  • Conduct studies for product or procedural issues under supervisor guidance.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and investigations.
  • Prepare reports and update documents as directed.
  • Maintain training compliance and operate lab equipment.
  • Perform microbiology techniques, including aseptic technique, streak plating, Gram staining, and microscopy.
  • Participate in the validation of new products and processes.

Microbiologist II Additional Duties:

  • Perform advanced assays, including CCI testing, LAL testing, Bioburden analysis, growth promotion, bacteriostatic/fungistatic validation, and microbial identification.
  • Assist in training team members.
  • Engage in client interactions.
  • Author acceptance reports for product/process validation.
  • Complete special assignments from supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute microbial testing and data review.
  • Follow GMP and safety regulations.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Support troubleshooting and validation processes.
  • Document results accurately for product release.

Qualifications

For Microbiologist I:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or related science with a microbiology emphasis.
  • No experience required; lab or pharmaceutical experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and manual dexterity skills.
  • Knowledge of microbiology, statistics, GMP, and computer-assisted data processing.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs and work with allergens.

For Microbiologist II:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or related science with 1 year of lab experience.
  • Strong scientific literature usage and report writing skills.
  • Shift: Weekday Days, Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm

Compensation:

  • Microbiologist I: $27.85–$37.66/hour
  • Microbiologist II: $30.93–$41.85/hour
