Job Summary

The Specialist Salty QRC position at Hershey is an exciting opportunity for professionals seeking rewarding microbiology jobs in the food manufacturing industry. Based in Hershey, PA, or remote, this corporate role supports Hershey’s owned and co-manufacturing facilities within the Salty Division.

As part of the Quality and Regulatory Compliance (QRC) team, the Specialist leads quality programs, audits, and incident management processes. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams—Marketing, Legal, Manufacturing, and Engineering—to ensure global food safety, product integrity, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead quality and food safety initiatives across Hershey’s salty facilities.
  • Conduct audits to ensure adherence to Global Food Safety Standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage complex incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver quality and compliance training programs.
  • Support continuous improvement and process enhancement across multiple plants.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state food industry regulations, including the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

  • Detailed understanding of Hershey’s Product Excellence Program, Food Safety (FSMA, HACCP), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  • Fluency in English; cultural business acumen required for global operations.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% (domestic).

  • Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation and influencing abilities.

  • Capacity to effectively engage with all organizational levels—from Production teams to Senior Leadership (VP level).

  • Proven ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Strong business acumen to make decisions aligning with Hershey’s strategic objectives.

  • Experience in representing the company to regulatory bodies, co-manufacturers, suppliers, and trade groups.

  • Competence in auditing and assessment techniques.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Understanding of manufacturing and production environments.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), SAP, and Power BI.

  • Basic knowledge of sanitation principles, sanitary design of equipment and facilities, and food microbiology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or related life science field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in food industry quality jobs.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and FSMA standards.
  • HACCP, SQF, or PCQI certifications preferred.
