Job Summary

The Apfeld Lab in the Biology Department at Northeastern University is hiring a Research Technician to investigate the genetic mechanisms influencing the lifespan of the nematode C. elegans. This role involves a combination of genetics, live imaging, quantitative analysis, and computational techniques to explore the molecular basis of aging and longevity.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to research projects on genetic interactions affecting lifespan
  • Generate transgenic nematodes and conduct lifespan assays
  • Assist in data analysis and publication of research findings
  • Maintain laboratory operations and prepare stock solutions
  • Mentor undergraduate students

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics/Genomics, Neurobiology/Neuroscience, Biochemistry, or Microbiology
  • Experience in molecular biology and C. elegans genetics
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research
  • Strong communication skills
