Job Description

This role is perfect for candidates with a BS Biology or equivalent degree seeking hands-on experience in biomedical research. The Research Assistant provides vital support for ongoing laboratory research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. This role involves assisting with experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, and managing research materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine laboratory tasks such as preparing solutions, reagents, and media.
  • Assist with basic experimental procedures under supervision.
  • Maintain and clean laboratory equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Collect, label, and process biological samples following standard protocols.
  • Accurately record experimental data in laboratory notebooks and digital systems.
  • Support inventory management and ordering of laboratory supplies.
  • Assist with animal husbandry, collection of physiological data, and euthanasia (if applicable).
  • Ensure adherence to safety and biosafety protocols, maintaining a clean and compliant workspace.

Educational Qualification

Bachelorโ€™s degree in Biology or a related scientific field.

Experience and Skills

  • Laboratory or research experience (through coursework or prior employment).
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety procedures.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
