Research Jobs at Nguyen- Role:

The Junior Specialist in the Nguyen Lab will contribute to research projects exploring how translation control mechanisms drive prostate cancer and the effects of translatome therapy. The part-time appointment (50% effort) allows the candidate to gain extensive molecular biology experience while working alongside an expert research team.

Research Jobs at Nguyen- Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform molecular biology techniques: RNA/DNA extraction, PCR, plasmid preparation, basic cloning.
  • Conduct mouse genotyping and dissection.
  • Prepare NGS libraries and perform gel electrophoresis.
  • Maintain tissue culture and cell lines.
  • Analyze basic sequence data and organize experimental results.
  • Maintain detailed laboratory records, notebooks, and shared lab documentation.
  • Participate in lab safety, reagent preparation, and inventory maintenance.
  • Assist with scientific writing and data presentation for publications.

ย Junior Specialist- Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree (or equivalent) in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, biology, or related field, or 4 years of research experience.
  • Previous independent laboratory experience in molecular biology, genetics, immunology, or biochemistry.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain complete and detailed laboratory notebooks and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in RNA work, tissue culture, electrophoresis, DNA manipulation, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, transfection, and flow cytometry.
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.4.
  • Commitment of at least 1 year.
  • Interest in applying to graduate or medical school is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range: $55,000 โ€“ $58,600 (estimate).
