Position Title: Senior Associate Scientist – Metabolomics
Location: South San Francisco, CA
Who We Are:
Calico seeks a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to join our team and study cellular and organismal metabolism. The successful candidate will use advanced metabolomics techniques to investigate metabolic mechanisms underlying aging and age-related diseases.
Responsibilities:
- Design, plan, and execute experiments related to cellular and organismal metabolism
- Prepare metabolomics and lipidomics samples and analyze them using LC-MS/MS
- Conduct mammalian tissue culture and perform standard molecular biology techniques
- Assist with in vivo experiments, including mouse handling and tissue collection
- Analyze and interpret experimental data and present findings at internal meetings
- Maintain detailed laboratory records in compliance with institutional policies
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant research experience in an academic or industry setting
- Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, gene editing techniques, and basic molecular biology methods
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience with metabolic assays and flow cytometry
- Comfort with data analysis tools and basic scripting in R/Python
- Familiarity with mass spectrometry methods is a plus
- Previous involvement in manuscript preparation or authorship of publications
Salary:
The estimated base salary range for this role is $107,000 – $143,000. Actual pay will be based on experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for two annual cash bonuses.
