Educational Requirements for Intern role:
- Master-level degree candidate OR rising senior pursuing a degree in:
- Molecular Biology
- Biochemistry
- Genetics
- Related fields
- Must be enrolled full-time in an accredited U.S. university
- Must be enrolled in Fall term after internship OR graduated within 1 year
- Must be able to relocate and work onsite for the duration of the internship.
Key Responsibilities for Intern Role:
- Conduct cell culture experiments involving mammalian and primary cells
- Support molecular biology assays (PCR, qPCR, Western blotting, immunofluorescence)
- Assist in data analysis and interpretation
- Prepare reports documenting research progress
- Present scientific findings to internal teams
- Participate in collaborative research projects within BioMarin’s pipeline
Skills Required for Intern Role:
- Required Skills:
- Cell culture expertise, including iPSCs
- PCR, qPCR, Western blotting, immunofluorescence
- Data analysis using Excel, GraphPad Prism, or similar
- Strong literature review and analytical skills
- Experimental design experience
- Scientific reporting and documentation
- Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of cell biology, genetics, gene regulation
- Immunostaining and microscopy techniques
