As a Water Scientist, you will support the Water Treatment Manager and operational teams to ensure water quality, regulatory compliance, and process optimization across Cambridge water production sites. Key Responsibilities as Water Scientist
- Ensure compliance with Water Quality Regulations and company policies.
- Analyze and interpret water quality and operational data (including SCADA) to optimize plant performance.
- Investigate breaches of standards or poor performance and produce detailed reports.
- Identify risks in treatment controls and propose mitigation strategies.
- Provide expert advice on water treatment processes and support investment projects.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Support daily activities of the Water Quality department and attend cross-departmental meetings.
- Deliver specialist water quality training to operational staff.
- Conduct reactive risk assessments as required.
Qualifications:
- Degree or HND in a scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Environmental Science, Microbiology).
- Experience in drinking water treatment, water quality, or related field preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong IT proficiency, including data analysis tools.
- Full, valid UK driving license.
- Willingness to participate in “out of hours” standby Rota.
