About the Project:

This PhD position in cancer treatment is part of the THERACAN project at UiT, focusing on the development of innovative targeted radionuclide therapies. Qualifications:

Compulsory Requirements:

  • Completed Masterโ€™s degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology or related fields.
  • Strong written and oral English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with an interest in experimental research.
  • FELASA Category B (EU Function A/D) accredited training for animal experiments, or completion before project start.

Beneficial Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Norwegian or other Scandinavian languages.

Job Description:

UiT invites applications for a four-year PhD position in cancer treatment at the Department of Clinical Medicine, affiliated with the Molecular Inflammation Research Group (MIRG) and the THERACAN project. Candidates will conduct preclinical studies on radiopharmaceuticals, including 212Pb-labelled FAPI-2286 and PSMA-targeted compounds, in conjunction with external beam radiotherapy. This MS Molecular Biology job opportunity is ideal for candidates aiming to develop expertise in experimental oncology, molecular imaging, and radiopharmaceutical research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preclinical cancer studies using cell culture assays and animal tumor models.
  • Plan and execute experiments involving radiopharmaceuticals and radiotherapy.
  • Measure immunological responses via flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, and single-cell RNA sequencing.
  • Perform in vivo PET/SPECT and MR/CT imaging experiments and data analysis.
  • Coordinate experimental timelines and ensure compliance with ethical and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with national and international teams in radio-immunotherapy, radiopharmacy, molecular imaging, cancer biology, and computational analysis.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to scientific publications.

Admission to the PhD Programme:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree of 180 ECTS and Masterโ€™s of 120 ECTS, or an integrated Masterโ€™s of 300 ECTS.
  • Masterโ€™s thesis corresponding to at least 30 ECTS (20 ECTS for integrated Masterโ€™s).
  • Minimum grade C on thesis and overall Masterโ€™s degree.
  • Foreign degrees are evaluated for equivalence with Norwegian higher education standards.
