Job Summary
The Hershey Companyโs Technical Center is seeking a Research Scientist to report to the Senior R&D Manager for Hershey/Cadbury. This Research Scientist Job role involves supporting high-complexity initiatives, leading workstreams within larger projects, or managing low-complexity initiatives independently. Candidates will develop technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and cross-functional communication abilities while learning to influence teams and build professional networks.
Specific Role Focus Areas

Lead product development projects in the chocolate space, including formulation, ingredient development, and product transformation.

Perform prototyping and development from bench scale to pilot plant and full manufacturing scale.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, production, engineering, and marketing.

Understand the business and financial impact of projects.

Apply technical rigor and scientific principles in all development activities.

Provide input on technical feasibility for new product concepts.

Partner with Supply Chain to drive quality and value improvements in products and processes.

Lead ingredient shortage mitigation workstreams to minimize supply chain impacts.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience leading innovation initiatives such as product development, quality improvement, cost optimization, technology validation, and process optimization.

Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelorโs degree in Food Science, Biology, Food Process Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field.

2โ4 years of applicable experience.

Experience in Chocolate Production, Innovation, and CPG environments is preferred.
