Position Overview
Biogen is seeking a motivated co-op student to join the Analytical Development Biologics group in Cambridge, MA. This six-month opportunity supports the team’s mission to develop advanced analytical methods that drive innovation and support biologics portfolios.
The selected candidate will gain practical experience in analytical development within a biopharmaceutical environment while contributing to impactful scientific initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize LC-MS-based methods to characterize and quantify host cell proteins (HCP) in biologics
- Execute developed LC-MS HCP methods to generate decision-enabling data for process development and cross-functional teams
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary stakeholders to support analytical and process development efforts
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is curious, motivated, and interested in gaining hands-on experience in analytical development within a biopharmaceutical setting.
Preferred experience and familiarity include:
- Sample preparation techniques for mass spectrometry-based proteomics approaches
- Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry instruments and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
- Familiarity with proteomics software tools such as Proteome Discoverer, MaxQuant, and Skyline
Eligibility Requirements
- Have legal authorization to work in the United States
- Be at least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college, university, or skills program/apprenticeship
Education Requirements
- Currently pursuing a PhD or Master’s degree
- Major in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biological or Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field
Compensation
- Base hourly compensation range: $29.00 – $31.00
- Actual hourly wage will be determined based on academic level and degree candidacy (Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, JD, MD, PhD, MBA), in compliance with state and local wage requirements
