Job Description
The Associate Scientist in Biologics Pivotal & Commercial Cell Culture Process Development will perform cell culture process development laboratory experiments for biologics entities during pivotal development (Phases II/III and commercial).
This role also supports technology development, platform process initiatives, and implementation of cell culture processes in pilot plant and GMP facilities.
Note: This position will relocate to Gileadโs corporate HQ in Foster City, CA at a future date.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute experiments to optimize and characterize cell culture processes during pivotal development.
- Support cell culture platform development and pilot plant operations.
- Maintain lab equipment, manage consumables, and ensure laboratory readiness.
- Perform equipment maintenance and continuously improve data handling practices.
- Document experimental data in electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN).
- Analyze, visualize, and interpret data; present results and conclusions.
- Author protocols, reports, and technical documents.
- Travel as needed to support technology transfers and oversight at internal/external manufacturing sites.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and budgetary requirements.
Basic Qualifications for Associate Scientist Jobs
- Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Bioengineering, Biochemical Engineering)
- Bachelorโs degree with 4+ years of relevant experience OR
- Masterโs degree with 2+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on lab experience with shake flasks, high-throughput bioreactors, and bench-scale bioreactors
- Experience with pilot-scale bioreactors and GMP facility implementation preferred
- Strong communication, technical writing, and data presentation skills
- Creative problem-solving and teamwork in cross-functional environments
Compensation and Benefits of Associate Scientist Jobs
- Salary Range: $99,705.00 โ $129,030.00
- Gilead determines compensation based on qualifications, experience, and geographic factors.
