Job Summary

The Micro Lab Tech 1 prepares samples for analytical and microbiological testing of food products, ingredients, and environmental materials. This role ensures the application of approved microbiological techniques and methodologies used in analytical testing to maintain the highest quality standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples for indicator organisms, pathogens, and chemistries.
  • Apply aseptic techniques in daily testing activities.
  • Maintain media and reagents for microbiological testing.
  • Inventory and report expendable materials required for testing.
  • Perform preventive maintenance through daily cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Conduct quality control checks (e.g., incubator temperatures, media controls).
  • Follow FSNS procedures and customer requirements independently.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, records, and quality assurance programs.
  • Perform all tasks safely, hygienically, and efficiently.
  • Share information and collaborate effectively with the team.
  • Manage priorities to achieve both individual and team goals.
  • Complete all required training sessions.

Minimum Qualifications for Career Opportunities in Life Sciences

  • Associate Degree in Life Science or two years of laboratory experience preferred.
