Education
High school degree or equivalent required; BS in Biological Sciences preferred.
Experience
- Prior experience in biological production or aseptic manufacturing preferred.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of mammalian cell culture techniques is desirable.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
- Understanding of the metric system and fundamentals of bioreactors/fermentors preferred.
Job Description
The Laboratory Technician – Virus Operations will work in a manufacturing laboratory setting, utilizing mammalian cell culture practices and techniques. The role involves supporting GMP processes, operating laboratory equipment, ensuring safety compliance, and contributing to the production of high-quality viral antigens.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform processes and operate equipment required for bulk viral antigen production.
- Apply good cell culture practices related to viral and antibody production.
- Operate equipment used in downstream processing (e.g., tangential flow filtration, hollow-fiber filtration, sterile filtration).
- Maintain and troubleshoot bioreactors, fermentors, and other laboratory equipment.
- Complete and follow the GMP process documentation.
- Adhere to safety standards for handling biological and chemical materials.
Technical & Physical Requirements
- Exposure to chemicals, biohazards, steam, noise, and temperature fluctuations.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift to 50 lbs.
